Kosher certification
Kosher certification for Spanish food: OU, Star-K and KLBD
Every Spanish Kosher Supply order is made in a dedicated, supervised kosher production at the Spanish plant, under the agency your customers trust, including OU, Star-K and KLBD. The certificate is issued for your batch, so you know exactly what you are putting on the shelf.
How a supervised run works
- We agree the products, quantities and agency with you.
- The agency reviews the plant, the ingredients and the process.
- On production day, the rabbi or mashgiach supervises line cleaning and the full run.
- The batch is sealed and labelled with the agency's symbol, and the certificate is issued.
With more than 7 years of experience in kashrut, we prepare each plant for supervision before the rabbi arrives. That saves time and avoids surprises on production day.
Questions
How does kosher certification work for a Spanish factory?
For each order, the agency's rabbi or mashgiach visits the plant, supervises the cleaning of the production line (kashering where needed), checks every ingredient and supervises the run. The certificate is then issued for that batch. The factory does not need its own year-round certification.
What is the difference between OU, Star-K and KLBD?
They are three of the most widely recognised kosher certification agencies. OU (Orthodox Union) and Star-K are based in the United States and are accepted by most kosher retailers there. KLBD (the London Beth Din) is the reference seal for many kosher shops in the UK. The right choice depends on the store and its customers.
Which seal should I choose?
The one your customers look for on the shelf. Tell us your market and store profile and we will advise; if you already have a preferred agency, we work with it.
Is the fish pareve?
Yes. Tuna, mackerel and melva in olive oil are pareve. Production runs contain no dairy or meat ingredients.
What about kosher for Passover?
Possible for some products, mainly olive oil and fish in olive oil, with a dedicated run approved by the agency. Book early.
Do vegetables need extra checks?
Yes. Wild vegetables such as tagarninas are checked for insects according to the agency's standards before certification.
